There is a special election happening now!
Early voting is in full swing for an amendment to the State Constitution to change our district lines for Congressional seats in an attempt to thwart Trump's plan to gerrymander his way to an unfair Congressional majority
You can also sign up to help at the precincts on April 21st - we will have a presence at all EIGHT precincts in Westmoreland County! If you can travel 20-30 minutes to cover a shift in a more remote area of the county, please do! It's going to be ALL HANDS ON DECK to get this amendment passed!
Since we have been getting a lot of questions about exactly what is on this Special Election ballot, here it is:
Question: Should the Constitution of Virginia be amended to allow the General Assembly to temporarily adopt new congressional districts to restore fairness in the upcoming elections, while ensuring Virginia's standard redistricting process resumes for all future redistricting after the 2030 census?
And you can look HERE for some explanations, including the full text of the amendment.

If you are ever wondering what's happening with the Westmoreland Dems, please remember to check our website www.westmorelanddems.org!
We try to make sure all of the pertinent information shows up on the homepage and there is usually at least one blog post for each event or occasion that's coming up.
Those can be found under "WDC LATEST NEWS" - just click on the headline to get more information.
If you receive our emails but haven't joined the Committee yet...

The Westmoreland Democratic Committee (WDC) is an official organization of the Democratic Party of Virginia, with a number of key legal responsibilities in carrying out the nomination and election laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
The WDC is comprised of representatives from each precinct in the county. Those who serve on the WDC as committee officers, precinct captains, and party and campaign workers are all volunteers.
We are an energetic, dedicated and diverse group of volunteers working hard to elect Democrats at all levels of government.

We’re fighting for a brighter, more equal future: rolling up our sleeves and organizing everywhere to build a better America for all.
We strive to ensure that every person is given the opportunity for a fair shot. We recognize that this requires hard work to establish equity in all affairs.

Together, we can address the problems that seem unmanageable to any one person. We work together for the common good throughout our area.

We learn by listening and give each person the opportunity to share. Only by understanding those we do not know can we truly support them when they need us.

Our events are opportunities for citizens of Chesterfield County to come together and talk about the issues that matter most to us. We regularly welcome candidates and elected leaders from our local area up to the national level to join us and stay connected.

As the local affiliate of the National Democratic Party, the Westmoreland Democratic Committee works to both further the mission of the national party throughout our community while also representing the needs of our constituents to our elected leaders.
